Chaplin Bay

Chaplin Bay, Warwick Parish, on the South Shore of Bermuda. View to ENE. Nearest headland is Elephant Head, beyond which is Stonehole Bay, then Jobson Cove (out of sight) and Jobson Point. Chaplin Bay is named after the well-known actor Charlie Chaplin, who used to stay in the area, at Spithead House (about 1.5 Km away) and owned by his wife's (Oona O'Neill's) family and later by them both. 'Elephant Head' is presumably named for its fanciful similarity to a partly submerged elephant's head which is facing out to sea. This photo has note boxes. ID: DSC_1156_2.JPG
