This is the most popular dive site at Montague Island and is famous as the home of a large colony of Australian fur seals and New Zealand fur seals that inhabit the rocks and the sea all year round. The area surrounding the island is a protection zone for the endangered Grey Nurse Shark. These sharks frequent the area between November and April, inclusively. September and October are generally the best months to visit the island as this is when the seal numbers are greatest. The site is accessible all year round due to being well protected from prevailing wind and sea conditions. |
