The famous Jellyfish Lake of Palau offer a rare visual experience of being completely immersed in waters which are densely packed with jellyfish.
The lake here is filled with salt water, though below 15m/50ft the water quality starts to change, with no oxygen (anoxic) and increased sulfide content.
Local instructions are "When you see 1,000 jellyfish, keep going. When you see 10,000 jellyfish, keep going. When you see 100,000 jellyfish, keep going. When you see 1,000,000 jellyfish, stop, you're there."
The lake is still very enjoyable for snorkellers. This site is a haven for underwater photography.
The lake bottoms out at around 30m/100ft.
