The General Sherman is a 200ft civil war era blockade runner that sank in 1874. According to sources, the ship was registered as the Sherman after the war. The ship was originally British and named the Princess Royal. It was captured and converted to a federal gunboat.

The wreck lies in about 52ft (16m) of water about 6 miles outside the Little River inlet. The wreck supports abundant marine life and is also a popular fishing spot.

There was a fatality involving a female diver near this dive site on July 24, 2012.
