White tip shark encounter

We took a 2-dive trip to Gato Island near Malapascua. No cats there, despite the name! If a dive could be on a postcard, this would be the one. Crazy visibility, bright blue water, huge rocks covered with reef and teeming with life, and best of all: this is the home of white tip sharks. We saw four of them milling about. Less bulky than threshers, they are still beautiful predators, sleek and graceful. We also swam under a gigantic arch formed by a enormous boulder and the island itself. After encountering a young, bright yellow frogfish, we went and took a peek in one of the shallow caves at the base of the island. An unforgettable experience.
