We went all the way to Malapascua especially for this dive: the only place in the world where thresher sharks come every morning to get cleaned by fish. We hopped into the boat before sunrise and enjoyed the scenery for about half an hour. The sky was on fire, it was one of the best sunrises I've seen. Once down, we contemplated a jaw-dropping scenery: flat sandy bottom 20 meters down, crystal clear water with columns of bubbles from other divers visible in the distance. We got to the bottom, stayed low and made our way to the cleaning station. 3 minutes into the dive we saw our first thresher shark. Compact, powerful and hydrodynamic as a torpedo. We watched it go slowly around us, getting cleaned in the morning sun. It had huge eyes and a comically small mouth. We saw 4 more before the end and got as close to the no-dec limit as we could. On our way back up we encountered a peaceful trigger fish and a moray eel. All before breakfast! That was a really cool dive.
